As an aro person, unfortunately it’s not really a new thing. I remember I didn’t think I was aro for a long time because I thought I also HAD to be ace. People have always been pretty bad at differentiating the two.

hard agree! I’m ace-spec and it’s super annoying. I genuinely have 0 ace pride merch because of this.

Ugh exactly. I’m aroace but most of the time I only see ace merch. In the public consciousness Ace=aro and it’s so frustrating because no, I’m not just ace. That’s only half of the story. I feel like people only understand the split attraction model when it serves them, and forget about it as soon as a real person shows up with a “complex” experience. You can be allo ace, aro allo, or aro ace, and that’s not even it. I’ve given up trying to explain my QPR to people.
