they don’t discuss it because being white doesn’t interact with queerness. your analogy makes no sense. also it’s not mainstream whatsoever to be Christian and accepting of queerness, let alone being queer yourself. queer Christians & Christian allies are often shunned from their own spaces for their beliefs. you’re grouping all Christians together when there’s hundreds of denominations.
Okay so a lot is happening in this comment, I’ll write multiple replies but still might not get to all of it so apologies. Being white does interact with queerness, as does being black. Just because an intersectional identity doesn’t create compounding challenges doesn’t mean it’s not an intersectional identity.
It is, at the moment, mainstream to be Christian and mainstream to be acce of queerness. Yes there’s nuance to that, and the overlap is less than would be expected from proportionality, but you still have a plurality of Americans who are both Christian and accepting of queerness. But also, that’s not the same thing as being Christian and queer.
Queer Christians are often shunned from Christian spaces, yes, but not so much Christian allies. But queer Christians are not pushed out of queer spaces for being Christian. They are typically pushed out of queer spaces for bringing unwanted evangelism or for being bigoted in other ways.
you misinterpreting what I’m saying isnt “painting them with the same brush,” they can be shunned in different amounts and different frequencies. and you’re complaining about unasked-for “God loves you” posts and comments when that hasn’t been happening. people are talking about THEIR beliefs and THEIR queerness, and if they say “God loves you” then it’s to each other. youre just seeing queer Christians talk abt their identities and getting upset abt it.
Blocked me again lol, my response to the latest comment got written before that so here it is: I did not imply queer Christians are bigoted as a group. If I did, it was unintentional and I apologize. I said, directly, that queer Christians who are kicked out of queer spaces tend to get kicked out for A) unwanted evangelism or B) for some other kind of bigotry. Being queer does not prevent someone from being racist for example, and Christianity has racism problems up the wazoo.
