
this is just a loose theory/observation, but I think the reason why we have so much discourse around topics like this is so many people entangle the concept of oppression with their sexuality/gender identity. even if subconsciously, I think many people don’t feel like a “real” lgbtq person unless they feel they can prove how much they suffer as a result of their identity. but whether or not someone experiences frequent privilege or oppression can’t change the fact they’re lgbtq. period.
I mean 0 offense by this thought btw. I’m trying to explore the psychology of why these arguments are so common because I really just want everyone to get along and feel celebrated and happy during pride month 💔 cmon guys the whole point is to celebrate diversity and freedom to love who and how you want.
