A lot of casual racism from Hispanics because I’m mixed raced Mexican so I’m constantly under scrutiny for “not being Mexican enough” I moreso witness a lot of biphobia online in queer spaces but it’s usually not targeted directly at me. Just gross generalizations and assumptions about bisexuals as a whole. Kinda feels like being mixed race..not straight enough and not queer enough… but I’m not straight. I’m bisexual.

Well, given how many queer spaces online are dominated by white people, and this is a queer forum, I don’t think the results of this poll will be surprising. And to be clear, a big part of the reason so many queer spaces are dominated by white people (online especially, but also irl) is racism. Being queer doesn’t magically make you antiracist (or feminist for that matter)

I'm gay and black. I think there's been more homophobia directed at me than racism is because homophobia is more common and pushed than racism

It’s not that wide a majority, and I’m thinking proportionally as well. Like, non-white queer people are underrepresented in online queer spaces, even accounting for relative population sizes

I’ve experienced homophobia, but never in a city. Only in small towns and unincorporated communities (granted, that’s the kind of area I’m from, but like… I’ve still spent significant time in cities). I’m sure it happens, to be clear I’m not denying it, but it happens A LOT in “flyover country” or whatever you want to call it. I’ve also seen a lot of racism in small-town America, but I’m white so I haven’t really experienced it, just noticed and called out

I live in a small conservative town and I’m Tran And they are cool asf I get invited to everything yeah not everyone is ok with it but most of them don’t say anything just shrug and walk away

I don’t mean to downplay your experience, but I HIGHLY doubt your town is all that conservative or all that okay with it. I’ve seen a loooot of people act “polite” (emphasis on the scare quotes) around trans people to their face, but start shit-talking them immediately after they’re out of earshot.

Well considering my town is 485 people yeah I say it’s pretty small and also I’m a teacher there too
