
really depends on the context? like there's a difference between one of my friends jokingly going "ugh, i hate men" once in a while and, like, a terf telling me that men are evil and i'm a traitor or transitioning. i think that misandry is genuinely becoming an issue in some queer spaces (and obviously has been a core tenet of radfem spaces since they were created) but it's not really a problem in mainstream society at all
as someone who now identifies as nb, the toxic masculinity box is just a tighter version of the overall “man” gender box. Most people don’t fit perfectly, and although I personally decided I fell outside both boxes, identifying as a man is not the same as identifying with commonly toxic aspects of masculinity. Addressing the hatred towards the gender label instead of the actual problematic stuff just seems counterproductive.
