We really need to convey to people that feeding a narrative makes it stronger, and certain narratives will ultimately undermine our goals and be used against us by those who want to destroy us. Ugly=bad is not a narrative we want to feed; it is a very effective tool for fascists, so the less power we give it the better

I reallllly need more people to engage with academic theory on how conventional desirability is weaponized both structurally & in daily life 💀 there’s a lot of great writing on how this harms fat people in particular (tbc I’m fat myself / reclaiming the term rather than using it as a pejorative)
