This after the hundreds of colored people being killed by ICE is wild to me but i love literally any scrutiny that goes to ICE so it’s like “im so glad that people are aware!” but “It had to be a white woman for you to see the death as inhumane…” ykwim?

Not excusing it bc you’re right but I think what took people so long to wake up is the fact that we are sadly so used to poc being treated like this no one’s surprised anymore. It’s still extremely fucked up but ya know what I’m trying to say?

Someone literally commented on one of my posts and went “well it’s different because she was killed by ICE for no reason vs. them being able to justify the other deaths” and I was like…OH GOT IT you see immigrants and brown people as automatically being eligible to be killed by the police and ICE and it making sense in your brain. Like go fuck yourself.

It’s a sad instance of the desensitization that we all have experienced growing up in this country. Now it’s time for white people to stand on business and do something about it.

Yeah. See, ICE did something it wasn’t supposed to do, kill someone who’s ostensibly part of the ingroup. Can’t ignore it when a white woman is shot, white lives matter.

Hey, I’m the OP of the original post. I did not post this with any intent of overlooking the absolute devastation ICE has caused, both on a national level, and personally to me and you. I was posting in the LGTBQIA+ forum to remember Renee specifically as a member of our shared community when so many are using her identity as an excuse.

but you do play about POC because it’s not real to you then. because we aren’t considered as human as you or something. killing US is all good but you’ll riot for exclusively yours because you lack sympathy or empathy and that’s weird

Until a victim turned out to be white?? we definitely play about our neighbors” like bro you mentioned george floyd. The fuck that gotta do with your hispanic neighbors taken by ice while you silently shit yourself

I’ve been trying to do something this whole time. Protesting. Donating what little I can afford. Speaking up. Voting. Things keep getting worse anyway. I genuinely feel like there is nothing I can do. I see everyone else trying too. I just feel like it doesn’t matter what we do because the government will do what it wants anyway.

You’re attacking me like I’m not a POC. I’m a first gen American from an immigrant family. My people are the ones being hunted rn so pls calm down brother. Many things can be simultaneously true. So like I said, you’re right and I agree with you but now is not the time. Read the room and let people mourn someone who was wrongfully murdered.

i don’t give a fuck what color you are, that doesn’t change my point??? i’m not one of those weirdos who’s gonna give you a pass because you’re melanated. “Read the room” after they’ve been killing my people is insane. I don’t care if you’re an immigrant or colored, you could be lebron the king fucking james himself, and I would still get on your ass for “now’s not the time to acknowledge and hold people accountable”.

speaking as a Black woman here, I don't think it's so much losing the ability to empathize over it, i think it's trauma. in fact, i KNOW it's trauma. desensitization to such events is a coping strategy for the pain it causes. feeling outrage every single day for our brothers and sisters being murdered? i do get it, but i think the answer is learning how to be angry again and be productive with that anger.

not only did you fail to contribute anything to the conversation, you made no points backed by logic or evidence. My point: The deaths aren’t treated equally by this social group because POC are seen as “less human” Evidence: Only posts about non-POC death, posts saying it has to stop NOW, etc. it’s simple conversational structure that you’re failing to understand please just go back to middle school and let the adults talk 🫩
