Why hasn’t there been any discussion of reparations for those in the LGBTQ community for facing years and years of legal marginalization and brutality?

There kinda have been but it’s not taken seriously. If us black people cant even get reparations, us queer people definitely can’t.

not here to shut down the idea or attempt to weigh oppressions against one another, but I really think there’d have to be substantial progress made towards reparations for black americans before we can start to push for any similar compensation on behalf of LGBTQ folks. primarily because the damage done by slavery has direct multigenerational consequences, whereas that applies less to LGBTQ people because that’s generally not an inherited identity

What I’m saying. And I believe we’ll probably never get reparations so queer people definitely won’t. Not in the next century at least 😭💔

wish I had anything optimistic to say about the likelihood of reparations being taken up at a formal / state-backed level, as a white dude I feel so cowardly just being like “yeahhhh realistically idk if that’s gonna happen!” given the gravity of recent-history atrocities 😐 but jfc this current regime has been such smothering nihilism-fuel

Yeah as a black woman, I stopped having hope long ago. We’re more likely to die off from climate change as a species, before reparations are made 😆 All we can do is our best with the time we do have.
