I heard it's not intentional but is a deeper issue with how Apple does emojis. Here's this explanation, though I'm not sure if it's actually what's going on:

If you use the rainbow flag it temporarily corrects to the white flag and a rainbow then fixes itself

Anonymous1w
it’s a unicode glitch.

🏳️⚧️

It’s just a little thing but it says a lot about what’s happening. :(

they’re not censoring it i don’t think. It’s just a glitch with the emojis in the app, it’s happening with the bandage heart emoji too.

So why were we able to post the emoji just fine before?

I truly do not have an explanation myself, I'm just trying to spread the word I guess. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case here in the U.S., I just don't know if it's the first thing that we should jump to

That's something I was also curious about. The other examples they used worked, but not the trans flag. Personally, I am still able to see/type the emoji on TikTok and am located in the south..

It’s not censorship, it’s a technical glitch. Apps that don’t support certain emojis will default to other interpretations. 🏳️⚧️ is 🏳️⚧️.
If they didn’t *fix it*, however, that may be considered discriminatory.

Ex: when the trans emoji came out, apps that hadn’t updated to support it would have it show up as the two-emoji alternative
