Cis people do have to pay to have a body that doesn't make them dysphoric if they are dysphoric. Dysphoria is not exclusive to trans people and cis people get gender affirming surgeries all the time and none of them are free

this doesn’t negate the point of the post. surgeries for those with severe dysphoria are often considered medically necessary yet still not covered in many places. it’s not just a cosmetic surgery for many people.

Cis people get facial feminization/masculinization surgery for gender affirming reasons. Cis people get breast implants/removal for gender affirming reasons. Cis people get on hormones for gender affirming reasons. Hormones are often covered by insurance but the surgeries are often not because they're cosmetic

Seriously this!! It’s still GAC! We’re just denied/have many more hurdles because of transphobia. All kinds of people can and do struggle with dysphoria, at varying degrees, and all deserve to be comfortable in the one body they have.

I realize this post may not be meant as an argument, however it’s difficult to tell when you’re responding directly to the other post and criticizing something that’s (frankly) peripheral to its main point. could you clarify?

Idk what's confusing, the post says cis people don't have to pay for a body that doesn't make them dysphoric and I'm saying yes they do. The claim in the post I'm quoting is 1 sentence long and straightforward. Also totally unrelated to gender, there are a lot of people whose doctors say something is medically necessary and insurance companies will just say no it's not. This isn't a unique concept, insurance companies get the last word on what's elective vs needed even if they shouldn't

most cis people don’t get surgeries for dysphoria since most cis people don’t have dysphoria. it’s free to not get surgeries.

also, you’re right, the claim is straightforward. trans people shouldn’t have to pay for something an overwhelming majority of cis people get for free. if you thought it was anything else, then you missed it entirely.

I never claimed most cis people do. The post is saying trans people with dysphoria shouldn't have to because cis people with don't have to. I'm saying cis people with dysphoria do have to lol most people in general don't experience dysphoria idk why the headcount is matters when that's not at all relevant to any of the claims

It's free for trans people who don't have dysphoria to not get surgery too lol idk what that argument is supposed to be doing here
