I changed my name legally last year and it took a few months but now that no one calls me my dead name ive finally started thinking about myself using my name

because if you’ve been referring to yourself when talking to people by a set of pronouns for like two decades or more for your life, even if you identify with a different gender, those initial pronouns can be hard to shake

It’s more that your whole life you’re conditioned to refer to yourself and respond to the name your parents gave you and the pronouns of your birth sex. Even if your deadname and AGAB pronouns feel wrong/unnatural, it still takes time to fully separate yourself from them. If someone was in denial or had to delay transitioning there’s also the additional mental block of forcing yourself to respond to a name/pronouns that you know are wrong for safety or out of fear, which takes time to unlearn
