overweight is a word with a value judgement baked in. the word overweight necessarily means "you should be thinner" and it's not right to tell ANYONE that

the point here is that ppl excuse fatphobia behind concern for their health. you aren't spreading awareness by saying "um actually this is a real medical issue and you should be worried about it 🤓" like yeah dude EVERYONE fucking knows that already and unless you aren't someones pcp you fucking shouldn't say it because you arent adding anything to the conversation except judgement and you know it. grow up

Imo you’re half right and half wrong. I think it should be restricted to medicine. Like- people should treat it like high cholesterol or a vitamin deficiency. If it doesn’t affect your life, do whatever the hell you want. But there are people for whom being (usually severely) overweight presents everyday challenges like movement difficulties or serious risks like clogged arteries. They shouldn’t be judged, but they should be helped
