Not negating anything that anyone has gone through, but my friend was not able to apply to a scholarship for children of blind parents bc she wasn’t African American or Asian. Idk why it tailored to those two ethnicities but just wanted to throw out the one case I know of. For every one of those there’s thousands of African Americans or even Native American, or even Mexicans turned away

I always like to remind these people that when the government comes for them, they’ll come for us, too. They’ll never stop at any one minority group. There is strength in solidarity between minorities.

There are def scholarships for white blind and adjacent folks, tell her to keep looking, and maybe even specify that she’s white in the search

I mean yea scholarships are hard to get, even for me as a black person bc I’m not poor and I don’t have a 4.0 gpa, but there’s something she qualifies for without a doubt! A lot of charitable organizations award their own volunteers, creative orgs award creatives, maybe she’s better off trying to find something in her niche and interests instead of her hardship specifically

Some people will do anything to justify their bigotry. I think there’s a lot of people who are allies because they have an LGBTQ+ friend or family member but don’t have any POC friends or family members. Then there’s LGBTQ+ people who just don’t care about/don’t like other minorities.

She ended up not qualifying for anything (this was a bit ago), it’s probably bc our area tho, like I said there’s thousands of other cases for just ones like this
