But even further than that there’s this really big obsession with bush that I see online, to the point of shaming people who don’t have curly pubic hair and/or can’t grow their hair out as long as what they like to call a bush. No matter what I do, my body and my appearance will always be deemed unacceptable
I used to shave every other day bc 1. I felt like I had to be perfectly smooth bc people said it was gross and ugly and 2. When it got to a certain length it bothered me texturally. But then I met my gf and she’s chill with whatever I’m comfortable with but prefers a bit of hair so I started to just let it grow. It got past the middle length that caused texture issues and now it makes me feel more feminine and I’m happier with my body. All of that to say I think this ew you shave rhetoric comes
From how hard people pushed that women had to have no body hair. And while I agree that it’s weird to think women shouldn’t have any body hair, I also think it’s weird and also damaging to women’s body image to say it’s weird and gross to shave. It’s your body. Do what makes you happy, healthy, and comfortable 🤷♀️
