This is scam. Definitely. I know this type very well. They claim that they wanna send you money. But they come up with some crazy excuse to get you to send them money. Like to prove you’re committed or because the app requires an upfront fee.

I think it’s because of a few factors. Isolation that some queer people experience : scammers target vulnerable and isolated people; being in the closet: if you got scammed by a fake romantic partner , reporting it to law enforcement may not be safe for you if it requires out if yourself; asking for help is not good if you are in the closet for safety reasons.
