age verification to see explicit content aka anything involving queer people because—according to our shitty government—our existence is explicit.

It’s how they’re going to get that age verification. What are they gonna do?? Start requiring ID to access online spaces???? They totally would do that and that would be horrible especially considering the demographics of people who can’t access ID and who might have an ID that doesn’t align with their true identity.

The reason this bill has been getting the support it has is because it is using real issues (children’s safety online) as a way to restrict internet access for many other people. Children’s online safety is important, but a way more effective way of going about it would be making online spaces for kids again (like animal jam and club penguin) not restricting access to nearly every online space.
