Biggest pet peeve is when people mix up switch and verse. I mostly see it with mlm fetishizers because they don’t actually know shit about gay people but it grinds me gears (haha no pun intended). Like I’m a verse but NOT a switch let’s not get that mixed

So, after reading all of that, and having a mini panic, I remembered that the time most recently that this topic came up in my life, was making my HER profile… and maybe this is why it solidified in my brain and made me even more confused:

same, but my secondary pet peeve is when people mix up “verse” and “vers”. a “verse” is a section from a written text or song lyrics, the sexual identity is “vers” (short for “versatile”)

No worries babe I got you. Verse is a specifically queer term and is directly correlated to the terms too and bottom. They explain who gives pleasure in a queer relationship. Top gives, bottom receives, verse does both. Some people even say verse bottom or verse top to say they do both but one more often. Switch is a BDSM term and correlated with the terms dominant and submissive. They tell people how you behave in bed/who takes control.

As an example, you might have a verse who’s completely fine giving and receiving pleasure but does not like to be in control in the bedroom. You might have a bottom who likes only/mostly receiving pleasure but likes to be the one to control the top. You get the gist.

But yeah basically it can get pretty confusing if I say I’m a verse and someone thinks I’m a switch when I’m not 😅

Oh no, I definitely thought switch was just a term similar to verse meaning like you’re cool with switching whichever way, so I totally have thought of myself as a switch, and I have been so wrong 🫠😭😂

Yeahh… I can see why you were confused now 🙃 That’s unfortunate haha but I guess words evolve. It’s just harder to explain roles if they’re being conflated with positions for me. Rip

Valid, that's my bad. But this one's just misspelling whereas the other is conflation. I think if I say I'm a verse no one's going to think I'm saying I'm song lyric 😅 People do conflate switch and vers which makes their actual meanings confusing

fair ‘nough, I just think it’s a little funny to get so fed up over people being unfamiliar with a word while also repeatedly failing to use the correct word yourself

I just don’t want people think I’m a switch when I say vers 😅 For me it’s just mostly confusing to find people who say they’re switches when they mean vers too. It’s not the word really just the conflation of the word but I get you. Sorry for using the wrong word, I’ll correct myself
