STAR, or Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries was an organization founded by the likes of Sylvia Rivera and Marsha P Johnson. They worked with the BPP and provided food + shelter to homeless trans youth. What few rights they won by blood sweat and tears were quickly back peddled by wealthier, cisgender queer people, as trans people once again were excluded from Pride marches

And homeless shelters. It’s considered one of the first trans action groups in Americas history and completely pivotal to cornerstone LGBTQ rights we have rn but they’ve been completely swept under the rug and forgotten, specifically because they were communist. Much like how the majority of the civil rights movements were guarded and upheld by enclaves of militant revolutionaries, occupying buildings and defending peaceful protests from reactionaries. From workers rights, immigrants rights, racial justice, gender justice, queer rights, the ADA/disability rights, all of them relied on communist organizers and their contributions. We would not have five day work weeks, or minimum wage, housing equality, accessible infrastructure, most public infrastructure without the thankless hard work of revolutionaries. It is capitalists that have always walked them back, left or right, doesn’t matter. That’s why I particularly despise capitalist queer

People because it’s such a betrayal of both the sacrifices of our predecessors and the interest of our community/communities at large. Hard core reactionary queer ppl are traitors and I feel 0 shame saying that.
