I also had a friend with a transphobic great aunt. He explained using someone’s correct name and pronouns in a way that she actually understood. She was named Maryanne and people would always call her Mary for short but she didn’t like that and wanted to be called Maryanne. He asked her to remember how she always felt when people misnamed her and how bad she felt. She then understood what it must be like for a trans person to get misgendered/dead named a lot. I was amazed but glad it clicked.
Show them content of actual real life trans people living NORMAL LIVES as they all do. It’s not 100% the same but I had a homophobic grandma. One day she saw a gay couple out enjoying themselves. She told me she wasn’t homophobic anymore. I asked why. She said “well they looked and acted just like grandpa and I and then I understood”
