it’s so funny when people say “lgbtq+ didn’t exist in ancient times” like okay so you’re missing a ton of stuff. firstly, it did. lgbt was heavily suppressed, so who would want to be openly gay when the penalty was imprisonment, torture, and/or death

I love you guys and I think you deserve to know that during the medieval renaissance there was lots of art made of Jesus where the the side wound is rendered as a vulva, and it described as birthing the church, and sometimes jesus is described as menstruating and the blood compared to mother’s milk, and some even describe jesus as mother. The bible even shows itself erasing worship the divine feminine from itself. Soooo jesus is totally queer and modern orthodoxy doesn’t want anyone to know that

yes!! and not even just ancient greece. there are mentions of homosexuality and even multiple other genders in many cultures! it’s really just the willful ignorance and confirmation bias.

Ancient Greece was actually kind of special the way it portrayed it. They were still inherently homophobic, but it was more accepted for men. If you were the one “giving” it was okay, if you were the one “receiving”, it was considered shameful.

This shit got sooo mf suppressed over the centuries as patriarchal colonialism spread like a virus. Like the hebrew bible in some early texts even show the divine feminine being introduced as knowledge itself, and this is pretty uncommon knowledge now. so there is some definitely a lot of gender fuckery that happened early in human history that got wiped out later down the line
