need y’all to understand the difference between condemning Christian nationalism and saying “religion is inherently patriarchal/evil.” if nothing else, realize that hostility towards religion as a whole directly antagonizes two-spirit people.

the screenshot is from another community, but frankly I’ve seen much worse here. I still remember the person claiming “religious queers are a disgrace to the community.” be pissed off at the shitty history of organized religion rather than attacking random spiritualist queer people. we should do better than generalizing an inherently diverse topic.

I mean as an anthropologist most religions are patriarchal. HOWEVER! That does NOT mean the followers of that religion are. We are actually seeing a pretty big cultural shift where people are following a God but not the hateful teachings

But that original comment is a dumbass bc you can be progressive and religious. I lowkey feel like the YouTuber my niece watches, Ms. Rachel is a great example of that

yeah, most people follow patriarchal religions because most cultures are patriarchal, & religion stems from culture. that’s why I addressed organized religion specifically, as individual people can base their belief systems on their own values; that’s harder to do when you ascribe to an organized religion, as there’s less individual volition
