that time when i said women have a right to be distrusting towards men bc of the historical oppression they’ve faced at the hands of men & someone seriously said “what about trans men?”

I do think we need to talk more about the unique struggles of trans men, because they face some of the issues that women do (medical discrimination especially, but poor treatment from family on the basis of sex often remains) with the assumption that there is no shared ground between them and women/femme presenting individuals, which makes it harder to get help and support when dealing with those issues.

If leftists weren’t so caught up fighting each other over vocabulary, we’d have full socialism.

Also though, this stuff shouldn't be brought up only to negate a point about the safety of women. It's like the same thing with male survivors of SA--they exist outside of a rebuttal, and only bringing them up to prove someone wrong ('yeah, well, men get assaulted too!') or play devil's advocate is shitty

Can I ask what is wrong with my reply to myself? I am acknowledging that the discussion of trans issues is under-discussed but should not be abused in the form of a straw man fallacy about the safety and livelihood of women.

*yes* trans men. We are a part of the whole “men” thing. We are technically still oppressors of women, while still being oppressed ourselves. Two things can be true at once
