im asking this out of genuine confusion/curiosity & not malice. i always thought the definition of lesbian was a woman who likes other women. so someone who identifies as non-binary & uses they/them pronouns or views themselves in a way other than being a woman wouldnt use the term lesbian as much as they would simply queer or smth right? but yall r saying smth diff so now im confused🫤

imo labels' meanings are always changing and can have different feelings for different people. i'm a transman, and i AM a man, but i still have parts of my identity rooted in being afab and raised female. that doesn't make me less of a man, just queer. so i can see how someone in my similar position (transmasc or transman) who's attracted solely to women could be more comfortable with the label "lesbian" than "straight," esp since "straight" can have a non- or anti-queer connotation.

the point of being nonbinary is that you don’t fit the binary, it’s not a third gender. therefore there are some nonbinary people who are more masculine, more feminine, both, or neither. to me, it’s okay for a nonbinary person who likes women to consider themself a lesbian, or consider themself straight! it just depends on their gender expression.
