"down low" and it means secretly gay. i think the implication here is that he doesn't actually see her as a trans woman, but as a man who's girly enough to be a beard

i’m sure this wasn’t your intention, but this implies that trans women aren’t women. dl has more to do with the person themselves and not the identity of who they’re dating
