Guys all of this harry potter discourse could be resolved by reading any rick riordan book. Theyre better written and he cares about minorities.

and better yet, when he fucks up (which he definitely does multiple things in the series) he acknowledges it, apologizes, and takes steps to ensure it doesn’t happen again

Reading Harry Potter fanfic also works because the bitch doesn’t get any money (I find it extra fun to read trans Harry ones)

I see where you’re coming from but this very much so does not help with the searching for comfort in nostalgia part of this. Like i do read Rick riordan now but that does not change the fact that I cannot go to the fandom and stories that was an incredibly important part of my childhood for comfort because it’s betraying myself and my community

Im talking about the people who refuse to disengage frlm the fandom spaces and her. Not those who miss the feelings it gave them.

I never even read harry potter. The only time I interacted with any harry potter-related media or attractions was when I went to Universal Studios in Florida back in 2021.

Yes!! And if i remember right alot of his new books aren’t actually written by him, he allows new authors (usually POC authors) to write about their cultures and gives them his name branding to help them advertise!

I’d recommend Harry Potter fanfic for this that way you get the comfort without supporting her

yeah it doesn’t directly give her money but it perpetuates hp as a while which gives her money

Yeah I get that but that fandom was such a big part of so many people’s childhood and I’d rather keep the fandom and ditch the author than try to ditch the fandom completely then in a moment I’m already down give in a watch something that dis give her money

The fandom is part of the problem. the fandom perpetuates hp, and there will always be people in the fandom spending money on hp stuff. sometimes you have to let things go

Yes I understand that and I have let the fandom go but if it was a big part of your life fanfic allows you to phase it out at your own pace it’s helpful

It was a big part of my life. It was my entire life in 2-5th grade. rip of the bandaid off, it hurts less

It hurt less for you it did not hurt less for me the fandom literally saved my life and I needed to be able to still indulge without directly hurting the community ik it’s not ideal but for me and some other people having a way to still indulge in a less harmful way is necessary
