My ex used to misgender me (I use they/them pronouns) and I think it’s because she saw me as a girl. She met me as I am, what do y’all think was the issue here? Transphobia? Just defaulting to gendered decisions? She cheated on me, I’m just curious

Yeah she 100% didn’t respect you. I knew my ex before he transitioned and not once while we dated nor after did I ever referred to him by his former pronouns. I can’t speak for others but even if I have a hard time separating someone from their gender assigned at birth, it’s an act of basic human respect and courtesy to refer to them to their preferred pronouns anyway

imo ~2 or 3 misgenderings over a lengthy period of time could just be an annoying series of mistakes whereas substantially more than that is a big red flag

Just sucks that I lost all the mutual friends in the breakup, but at least all the good ones were only ever my friends ❤️
