Yeah but both are oppressed, they’re both losing the rights or have lost the rights to bodily autonomy but in different ways. They lost bodily autonomy with Roe V wade being overturned which probably ties indirectly to anti trans laws. I know there’s probably been anti trans laws before that but I am still a firm believer that Roe could have been a turning point for all groups, because when one group loses their rights then all groups eventually will. It’s an uphill battle for everyone.
Trans people do not choose to be the gender they are. If I could have “chosen” to be a cis woman I would, but I’m not. I spent 19 years trying to be a cis woman and yet it’s not me. If gender was a choice, cis women could just “choose” to be men to avoid sexism. But obviously they can’t.
chosen is not the correct word I should have used. I do not believe you chose to be this way. At the same time you cannot erase the oppression women have faced from the beginning of time just because trans people are dealing with severe oppression right now. Again I am sorry for the wording I used
Trans women get murdered and people get away with it due to the trans panic defense still to this day. Texas put together a list of everyone who had their gender changed on their license then stopped allowing it. Trans women and even more so trans women of color are get hate crimed more then any other group and face extremely high rates of SA and rape. And we have to hear people calling for the extermination of trans people in 2026. And 2025 had to 1022 anti trans bills introduced.
I like how we're also ignoring the fact that trans women... are women... and if they "pass" to most of society they will experience a lot of the same misogyny cis women do. So, again, I think we should be worried about cis women AND trans women!! I'm not saying which charity you should donate a million dollars to, I'm just saying you can care about more than one issue, which really isn't that hard...
if you look at any objective metric: income, rates of poverty, healthcare outcomes, rates of femicide, rates of sexual violence victimization, educational attainment, rates of incarceration, comparison for length of prison sentences, average lifespan, prevalence of anti-trans vs anti-woman legislation passed, literally anything, the data shows that the quality of life for trans women is lower than that of cis women. yes, cis women are oppressed, but being cis is still a massive privilege.
