Way to make friends with people with different opinions. Labeling/demonizing others is not the way to

oh no. okay ill rephrase. trans people are treated horrendously, and i find the screenshotted post’s op to be disgusting. it seemed to me that op of this post is the same op in the screenshot, but maybe i was wrong

When those “opinions” actively contribute to the harm and death of others, they are not to be tolerated, period. “The nazis just had different opinions, be nice to them.” FUCK NO.

we’re second class citizens in Iowa, have highly-restricted healthcare nation-wide, can’t even guarantee a safe public bathroom visit, and are still actively being killed nationwide with little to no consequence for the perpetrators. do you think POCs are also victimizing themselves? systematic discrimination, motherfucker.

no it doesn't??? what are you actually talking about. the way i read it was: trans people are "treated like everyone else" ? try posting again when you live in the real world [where trans people are obviously oppressed] <-subtext

what gave you the impression that anyone here is trying to make friends with people whose opinions are "shut up about trans rights, its annoying and i don't care"

Older women get menopause, and the treatment is estrogen to ensure your body still has hormones. Trans people often kill themselves because of intense dysphoria or not being seen as who they actually are. The only treatment for this is to transition despite what people say. So yes, it is absolutely life saving

I don’t think it’s bigotry. The whole issue around trans kids is very nuanced, and the science goes back and forth a lot. You can have differing opinions and still respect people.

Anonymous replying to -> #10 7w

It is bigoted. and no the issue is not nuanced. either you believe trans kids deserve access to healthcare, or you dont. and im not going to respect a bigot

Anonymous replying to -> OP 7w

It is nuanced because as I said, there is conflicting information. And the definition of healthcare also differs. I believe healthcare for “trans kids” looks like therapy for gender dysphoria and potentially hormones, not surgery. You can’t make progress until you realize that most issues aren’t black and white.

Kids only get surgery in rare instances. All trans surgeries are usually only if you are above the age of 18

bottom surgery, yes (though very very rarely it will be on a 17 year old who is turning 18 soon) though top surgery does happen for younger folks more often. i knew at least 2 trans guys who got top surgery before 18. not against it but i think it's important to be straightforward about the truth because acting like top surgery never happens under age 18 makes it seem like we're agreeing that its wrong to ever get top surgery as a minor which i don't really think is the case.

Anonymous replying to -> #9 7w

I didn’t say it never happens, I said it rarely happens. I know a trans guy who got top surgery at 14. But it is still in rare instances and there are so many more hoops to jump through. I also don’t think it’s wrong to get top surgery as a minor, but when theee are people saying “kids are getting trans surgeries” it’s also important to point out that you need to have severe gender dysphoria that has been documented by a professional for like…. 6 months to a year? At least in California
