I don’t think people should say anything that sounds like a woke version of “gay people are sexually abused and turn gay” but like woke. So I guess I gaf

nobody said anything about being sexually abused except you. i've heard this be said about social conditioning and cisheteronormativity. massive leap

I feel like saying that gay people are bi and turn gay has the same vibe as this. And what about aroace people.. it’s implying that they start as bi, and then something happens to them that makes them not into sex. Sounds a lot like this. But woke. And it’s not okay

I just have eyes actually, and have seen this same rhetoric on conservative tounges. I say it when I see it

"acquired homosexuality" is about people being *turned* gay through seduction not their gayness being repressed thanks to social norms. still a long shot from sexual abuse. you're actually tweaking. i don't think this post is as deep as you're trying to make it my friend. everybody exists on a sexual spectrum which means virtually nobody is 100% straight or gay which means everybody is bi to some extent - but it's not this fucking serious to be throwing around hate and essay posting

i don't think this post is even meant to be as nuanced as to include aroace people. like it's not meant to be some deep critical thought. you're just fishing for something to feel oppressed by

I do because “everyone is born bi” is invalidating many sexualities like gay men and lesbian women. It rings of the same rhetoric of “everyone is born straight its a choice to be anything else”.

like how we went from "all ppl are bi" to "omg! don't suggest that aroace people are sexually abused into being that way!" will never make sense to me

Bet these are the type of people who think theyre protecting women by excluding trans women because its “woke”

they're just pointing out the obvious which is that nobody is 100% on either side of the socially manufactured straight-gay binary (which itself changes by social environment). everybody is something in between, or exists entirely outside of it (aroace) and it's not a revision of homophobic rhetoric because homophobic rhetoric suggests homosexuality doesn't exist for moral reasons whereas this suggests heterosexuality doesn't exist for technical and sociological reasons

Tf are you yapping about? You can be transfem and not understand how this type of rhetoric is a rabbit hole of right wing takes that absolutely are adjacent to conservatives rhetoric about gay people. And i am 100 percent NOT attracted to men so i am a LESBIAN. I am NOTHING in between. To suggest so is to invalidate my sexuality.

My point on the trans exclusion is how this take is so “woke” that it becomes similar to right wing rhetoric. No, not everyone is born bisexual. Its the same as assuming everyone is born straight and that choices are what lead to anything else. If everyone is born bi, and we arent just born with our respective sexualities, then why tf would anyone identify as a lesbian or gay or pan or anything if it wasnt a choice?

you said you think i think i'm protecting trans women... which i am... by excluding trans women... which includes myself... you're just puffing hot air out of your ass dude. sorry but you're not some woke warrior you're just a hypersensitive lib who doesn't engage in real activism so you blow silly comments out if proportion and make wild false equivalency. boredom is one helluva drug

also gender ≠ sexuality ≠ orientation ≠ expression. you can be attracted to men and still be a lesbian; and lesbian men exist. this is what i'm saying. nobody is actually 100% on either side of this spectrum because endless exceptions exist and it's all made up and constantly shifting. but ofc that doesn't suit your narrative

Actual insanity. No you cant be attracted to men and a lesbian 💀 way to be invalidating to lesbians and gay people everyone. Congrats! Youve lost the meaning on words.

while sexuality is a spectrum there are ends to that spectrum such as heterosexuality and homosexuality without any flux/attraction to multiple genders. people like to create labels and groups because it helps them understand themselves better, the same way you would seek a diagnosis for mental health or physical health issues to better understand how your body is working

you can absolutely be attracted to men and be a lesbian. YOU are engaging in right wing rhetoric by denying the existence of this nuance, and by denying the existence of lesbian men. congrats, you're a bigot with an elementary understanding of words!

see the fact that a bunch of ppl supposedly advocating for queer ppl don't understand that trans/gender-nonconforming people have discovered that they are both men and lesbian tells me all i need to know about your elementary understanding of queer identity and gender identity. but ofc a bunch of cis (probably white) queers would be transphobic and bigoted
