I’m an atheist but totally agree with this! I feel like bigots are gonna be bigots with or without religion, they just want to use it as an excuse for why they are “allowed” to be hateful. Religion is not inherently homophobic or anti-LGBTQ+

#1 is the person who consistently harasses queer religious people btw (NOT just Christians), they’re one of the few people I have blocked and they’re on EVERY post here harassing religious queer people just for mentioning it when it’s relevant 😭 they’re also super uneducated on it and just a hateful person

The people who are using their twisted version of religion to hurt others would be doing so even if religion didn’t exist. They use it as an excuse for the behavior they would probably hold anyway. It may bring out the hate in some but it provides comfort and community for others. I understand where you’re coming from but I don’t think that telling religious queer people that they’re a disgrace is helpful either, which tends to be the reaction.
