The American Dream states that anyone can come here and have an equal chance of making something of themselves. While it’s possible for immigrants and POC to do, it is not equal and the system will beat them down more than a white person who was born a citizen. America is designed against them, the American Dream is dead

We’re still one of the few countries that allows disabled people to immigrate here alone is a reasons immigrants won’t stop coming here.

The American Dream is bullshit but you are right. But not because America is the best, especially with the ICE terrorism across the country, but it is the better of two evils for many unfortunately.

American dream being dead is debatable, most immigrants have a different idea than we do! But the conditions here are much better than the countries they are fleeing

Yeah like i fear u have been propagandized op. There are plenty of other countries better for immigrants. Many immigrants know this but are forced into the US through proximity.

A few things, but mostly the idea of everyone here having the ability to come from the bottom of the barrel to the very top if they worked hard enough to do so. It’s the same exact reason why the says “Put yourself up by your boot straps” (which now that I think about it is a common saying around the American Dream) is so ironic because just like in real life, it’s physically impossible to do so.

I feel like this might be because of the reputation USA had, not the current situation. Besides the fact that many in this situation don’t have the means to do proper research on which country will be best before choosing one. A lot of people still think US is what it was and are shocked when they get here. - a Brazilian
