You’re going to want to watch The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love. Manages to balance being authentic with queer oppression but ultimately hopeful. It’s one worth watching

Queer as folk (American version 2000-2005) has a happyish ending. Lindsay and Melanie get back together after a tragedy. But they move from Pittsburgh to Canada to raise their kids in as better environment
