Ngl, I feel like there’s a whole genre of AITA posts of this exact scenario with just slight variations. Like, “AITA for not dating ___ people? I was super nice and respectful in turning them down & they screamed that I was __phobic for not dating them”.
AITA? A plus-sized girl approached me a bar while I was with a few friends. I turned her down politely saying I had a girlfriend (which I do). then she starts yelling at me saying stuff like “why the hell is my weight such a problem?” And causes a scene.

I’m going to sound like a crazy person, but it’s always…kind of the same? Like, they’re clearly written in a way that practically guarantees OP will be told they’re NTA. When really, OP just wants to set space to vent about a marginalized group under the guise of defending ‘preferences.’ Of, OP in this setup is the rational and good-natured victim who’s being unfairly attacked by the evil marginalized person. 😭 It’s so copy-paste.

People gotta remember that you never hear the other side in these posts. The poster could be telling the whole truth but in my experience it’s very hard to remove your own bias in these situations, and in extreme cases they’re just straight up fabricated to farm Yik yak karma bc some people are just that desperate to be liked.

this reminds me of that Sarah Z video where she went digging and learned that a ton of infamous old tumblr posts presenting fat women as unreasonable, hysterical or “cringe” or w/e were actually ragebaiting fakeposts generated with the very intent of contributing to fatphobic cliches and sparking further hateful comments
