+ algorithmic policing exists and what it does is use past data criminalizing marginalized people to justify maintaining existing power dynamics and oppression. it’s becomes a chicken-and-egg situation, ex. datasets are skewed to more harshly punish black people so the machines learn from that data and suggest longer disproportionate sentences for black people under the guise of “impartiality” because it’s a machine and not a white judge.
Its tricky because there being long sentences (or the death penalty as some suggested) would likely have the unintended effect where the jury is going to be even less inclined to give a guilty verdict, and these cases are already rarely taken to court, our justice system is so deeply broken
