is it controversial to say i don’t think we should be saying slurs at all (in part to avoid controversy and confusion like this)

I don’t know if it’s a controversial take, but personally I disagree with it. Homophobes and transphobes will use these words against us regardless - there’s a certain power in reclaiming slurs and giving them a different meaning/connotation within the community
