Meanwhile other trans folks in my city are asking how to stay safe on our public transit system. And this is one of the “safer” place to move to if you’re trans. We still have work to do.

no they’re right, we don’t necessarily need pride month. we NEED equality and acceptance. we NEED to not fear for our lives. we NEED to feel safe in our own goddamn country. but sure, we’ll settle for a month of celebration that is deemed controversial anyways.

Trans people have more at risk. People don’t care about us. If security saw you with a gun on our transit, you would be banned and cops would be called on you. They absolutely don’t care about trans lives

Queer people will always be controversial to folks, even if we are just living our lives. Might as well find a little bit of joy in it, especially for us trans folks that have to deal more vocally these days debating our existence and healthcare 24/7. A lot of times Pride is a safer space for people living in conservative areas that need an escape

i get that, but there is a point where we can’t just keep “settling”. i love pride, it’s a lovely event full of support but i don’t want to feel that support only during a certain month/event. idk we are obvi on the same side but this shit is just disheartening, it’s exhausting to hear about hate crimes after hate crimes and there is nothing being done about it
