90% of the time people who have to think about reclaiming slurs are white queers who want to have their cake and eat it too when it comes to anti queer slurs. they want the shock value of saying a naughty word but fear actual repercussions of using that language so they just hide behind “oh it’s okay I can reclaim it!” no matter their original intention
That’s why it’s all about intention, no? I have lesbian friends who say the f slur and gay friends who say the d slur but neither use them derogatorily. I also have no white friends who use the n word because that’s a whole different thing, whereas the d slur and f slur are both gay slurs.
I once had the pleasure of meeting this trans gay guy who within an hour of meeting me started calling me a t——- f——-, when everyone else was like “wtf” he said it was okay because he could reclaim it. Obviously he meant it in a derogatory way and we explained that. I think everyone in the group cut him off after that
