someone please explain he/him lesbians to me like I’m someone’s politically dubious relative (genuinely asking, I don’t understand how that’s not just straight)

Pronouns don’t equal gender, they’re just a way to refer to things

I am not a he/him lesbian BUT I can explain the common misunderstanding of gender = pronouns (which is not true). I use they/he/she pronouns. I’m not a man and a woman and nonbinary. When I prefer he/him pronouns, I’m not a man. I just like those words used to describe me.

A person attracted to women who uses he/him pronouns. Sometimes this is a trans man, who identifies as lesbian. Sometimes this is a sapphic person who happens to use he/him pronouns. Maybe a cis woman who uses he/him. It makes a lot more sense if you start to think of lesbian being an umbrella term the same way gay is.

Probably because this gets asked here every other week, so people are tired of answering it. I hope the answers are helpful though!
