Least woke: theres some merit to the "put aside our differences" mentality in engaging with conservatives. Yes even as trans people it has worked for me. Most woke take: geography is fascist and i hate it (ask me about this one im autistic about it)

Niche/maybe unwoke take, I hate fandom culture, I hate over the top head canons, and I hate infantilization of grown adults that come with fandom culture (yes I know not every fandom)

Least woke: some religions don’t deserve tolerance if they are used in ways that oppress and hurt their members (for example Mormonism) Most woke: there is a huge cis normative problem within the lesbian community (and probably gay community but I can’t speak on them) Gender doesn’t equal genitalia and liking dick doesn’t make you any less of a lesbian, as long as it’s girl dick. Also sexuality and gender is fluid and sometimes contradictory labels work best for people.

Least woke: monogomy is ok. Being ima closed relationship isn’t selfish, why is everyone wanting to be open. Why am I unwoke because I’m not poly, it really is a “you are or you aren’t”

Least woke: I genuinely believe that lots of people in our generation are too sensitive. We grew up on “offensive” movies, and they would be cancelled today because no one can handle it now. Most woke: men who are comfortable in their sexuality and masculinity are a better partner than those who have toxic masculinity. I’d rather date a man who wears pink shirts than someone who thinks it’ll “turn him gay.” Niche opinion: everyone should do the stereotypical grandma hobbies. Knitting is fun.

Least woke take: I hate rural people. Most woke take: gender and sexuality aren’t predetermined at birth but are instead the result of convoluted and complicated social structures and experiences that can’t be controlled, predetermined, or willingly altered by individuals

You already know it! Geography as we use it in this country is a mechanism of settler colonialism. The imposition of property schemes, erasure of placenames, ecologically ignorant partitioning of land, and violence of upholding these systems dispossess indigenous people and physically imposes/maintains oppression of marginalized people. Fuck the railroads and smokey the bear can kiss my ass

That other person is right, you are level one woke. It isn’t rural people taking away your rights, it’s politicians. Why do you think rural means conservative, because it doesn’t. You genuinely sound like a ‘city kid’ stereotype looking down on ‘hicks’ and it’s pathetic.

I live in rural America. I stay tuned in to rural politics. Rural Americans aided in the defunding of welfare and other supports for poor people because black people benefited from it too. This is the ONLY reason policies like Temporary Assistance for Needy Families exist. This is the ONLY reason Reaganite economics persists in both parties to this day. This is the ONLY reason our rights have been held back so damn long

Do you seriously think rural people are noble savages waiting for educated socialists to free them and introduce them to class politics? Because they’re NOT. Rural people are ALWAYS the enemies of a better world, without exception. They resisted the French Revolution, they sided with the South in the Civil War, they resisted Civil Rights until the 21st century—they are the enemies of progress, without failure

You live in rural America. You hate rural people, accuse them of stripping our rights, and insist they are the enemies of progress. So you hate yourself, believe you are stripping our rights, and believe you are the enemy of progress?

Youre so fucking ignorant jesus. Im an urban planner for a rural municipality and yeah theres a lot of right wing regressive stuff but rural people are not the ones with political power to make the sorts of decisions youre talking about, thats city folk and suburban folk. You have a very limited view of how land and politics work which is clouded by your bias.

this is a take that i have seen but haven't really seen expanded upon and i really love the way you worded it (especially with how restrictive yikyaks word limit is). super curious though, how does smokey the bear tie into this? how do railroads also tie into geography?

Railroads are a whole entire thing im also a huge nerd about them. They were the primary method of westward expansion, given hellllaaa land by the govt and creating cities. Smokey the bear is only kinda related and it has to do with settler environmentalism favoring prevention over traditional fire regimes

I come from a real rural region in a state with large urban center and they absolutely get all the representation. Not to mention how inaccessible democratic involvement is for rural folks due to mobility, educational, and investment challenges. I literally study and work in rural public engagement dawg
