I genuinely think queer people who have accepting parents can never understand how it feels to have unaccepting parents

As a person who has an accepting mom (idk how my dad would have been he died when I was 16 before I came out), I don’t even begin to try to understand what that’s like. I’m so sorry that you or anyone else who’s dealing with ignorant family.

i’m so happy for them honestly, despite their occasional ignorance. i wouldn’t wish this on anyone. i cry every night about how i might not even be able to have a wedding. how my parents will die hating me. how my children won’t have grandparents. it’s depressing as shit.

I’m not gonna lie my parents are terrible for all sorts of reasons. I don’t even tell them what I eat in a day. I don’t even have them meet my friends. Forget about coming out, if I was straight they wouldn’t get an invite to the wedding. Now I have a good excuse( being gay) to keep them away. It’s honestly a relief

Oh yeah obviously, I just mean like I’ve had partners who’re mad that I can’t “just come out” to my parents. I’ve had friends who don’t understand why they can’t use my pronouns at my home, why my parents don’t like them.

yup. it’s so frustrating. it’s like i want these things too but i CAN’T. they just can’t conceptualize our struggles.
