Lots of cis women have facial hair, it’s actually about as common as left-handedness, so if you think you’re intersex, it shouldn’t be based on that. If you have other reasons, talk with your GP about them and (if they’re good) they’ll talk to you about next steps. I don’t say this to be mean, but it honestly might not be worth investigating if you’re in the US (idk how expensive the tests are and how much disposable income you have)
no that's totally fair, i mostly am just wondering cause i feel like something's off, but nothing online is super helpful i just bring up facial hair because i have like an entire face, sideburns, down to beard, soul patch, mustache. i pass as a man even if i give a traditionally feminine name
I’m at a genetic counseling clinic. We see people for things outside of intersex conditions like cancer, but we also see a lot of people who are family planning. My clinic will test for chromosomal differences so they do a full karyotype or image of your chromosomes. And if they feel it is necessary they might run a microarray which is just a bit more sensitive and can pick up smaller deletions. And we also do full genome testing in rare cases
The chromosome analysis and microarray are typically covered (there are some weird exceptions and a genetic counselor should know about any self pay prices the labs can also offer) but that full genome testing is insanely expensive and my clinic has only ordered them a handful of times and we start to see bills being charged in the thousands
