
If you weaponize weight, sex, religon, race, etc as a result of you see someone doing something you take issue with (even if it is this extremely serious case) rather than any number of takes you could make about the inethical and inhumane treatment and effects ICE has had on this country’s citizens and immigrants I’m going to assume you don’t really care about politics or ICE and you just love a good oppourtunity to call a fat guy fat. Is it fatphobic? I don’t think so. Is it as bad as what 1/2
ICE and other supporting political figures are doing? absolutely not. But it IS pointless, time wasting, and doesn’t actually help any other people whose lives are affected by ICE, nor does it spread awareness of the horrible atrocities ICE has committed or contribute to stopping them. It’s simply a shit post debate people make so they don’t have to actually speak up or advocate. 2/2
You don’t need to be nice to them. I don’t believe in being nice to ICE agents. But there are other much more effective ways to fight against it. If the first thing you think of when you see an ICE agent is “oh he’s fat haha” it tells me you care more about the fact that he is fat than the crimes and unethical things he is doing. It tells me that you see fatness as a bad thing and fixating on that rather than the literal murders, illegal searches and arrests, downright kidnappings is weird!
It doesn’t matter how fucking scum of the earth someone is, if you fat shame them, you’re fat shaming everyone else who is similarly fat or fatter. That’s the issue here. I don’t give a shit about the ice agents, I give a shit about fat people who’ve done nothing wrong and are being reminded once again about the fact that they’re fat and that a lot of people think they’re ugly for that.
