like we know the “trans women are perverted men” and “trans men are mentally ill girls” types of transphobia from outside the community but even from infighting it’s the same core beliefs, it just presents differently. it’s a small portion but there are lgbt+ ppl who are totally willing to throw their own community under the bus to save themselves, and that’s who i’m talking abt with this part
but like, when a trans woman is problematic it’s “oh she’s just a man posing as as a trans woman to reinforce the worst stereotypes abt us” or “we can’t claim her as part of the community bc it will make us look worse to cis ppl” or even “no real woman would do smthn that awful, i can tell your still male condition scum”
I do think that this is part of it, but I also think Tyler catastrophe hasn’t broken out of a trans-ok sphere in the way someone like lily Tino did. Lily had multiple news stories from right wing outlets, but “Guy is weird about abuser and is taking native terms as a white guy” isn’t a good headline for right wing news, because they love abusers and hate natives
i agree, but i also think that kind of highlights my initial point to an extent. the reason he hasn’t broken out of that trans-ok sphere is because he’s problematic. i don’t necessarily think that right wing transphobes are exactly conscious to it for it to be intentional, but if it were a trans woman loudly defending an abuser than that transphobia would likely present as “look at this man posing as a woman to hurt the real ones” even if it was completely performative concern from the ppl (1/2)
-doing it vs with a trans man defending an abuser, they cant spin that to fit their dynamic bc he's not fitting into the "weak manipulated woman" trope so it goes against the foundation of their beliefs and theres not an easy way for the to tear him down that fits their narratives. while within the queer community he gets more hate for the same reason bc "yeah figures hes a man if he sucks so much". it just presents differently depending on where it comes from and the motivation behind it.
