it’s so annoying the way bigots latched onto the concept of “identifying as an animal” as a means of shitting on trans people I don’t wanna have to worry about making my community look bad just bc I’m a freak who often feels more like a cat than a person

cause I mean, even so, the way I “identify as” feline-adjacent is very different from how I relate to my gender like I may be mentally ill but I’m obviously not trying to “live as” a cat in the sense that I would expect my material reality to align with how Actual cats live 😭

I mean if you’re mentally ill than so am I bc sometimes I feel very cat adjacent with my attitude and mannerisms. I don’t think I’m a cat just a very cat coded person

it’s less that I think relating strongly to a particular non-human species necessarily indicates mental illness, and more that my diagnosed mental illnesses probably influence my personal sense of not being fully human

Me but with dogs honestly. I feel more strongly like a dog than I do the gender I’ve undertaken surgeries to express.

yup, I’m a therian! :3 I just avoided self-describing that way in this thread because I was a little worried people who were unfamiliar with the term might misconstrue my identity if I didn’t articulate it in my own words there’s actually a pretty significant number of other trans therians in my city, I was legit blessed to have been born here

in fact, my introduction to the language of therianthropy was through a very kind, open-minded & free-spirited ace therian trans girl I knew at my old high school 💖
