Fucked up thing I learned today: in the USA gay and bisexual men (in most cases) aren’t allowed to be private/anonymous sperm donors. The FDA and major cryobank companies justify the rule out of HIV stigma (even though all donations are tested anyway!)

Extra crazy because half of their customers (the sperm bank’s i mean) are queer/same-sex couples

The fertility industry is AWFUL. I recommend following Laura High on YouTube, TikTok, insta, or whatever else. She’s donor conceived and talks about the industry and pulls NO punches

Im transmasc/bi and I don’t think I’m allowed to either, which really sucks because HRT can raise your blood cell count and the first thing docs do when that happens is tell you to go donate some blood to fix it 😭

i don’t think either of those prevent you from donating blood currently, especially if doctors are recommending you do so. you should look up the guidelines or call your local donation center

You still can’t donate blood if you’ve had anal sex in the last 3 months (something gay people do a lot)
