If they’re supportive of trans identities, there shouldn’t be any issue in you explaining to them that you’ve been experimenting with your identity if you’re comfortable to do so. It doesn’t have to be a big deal, just a shoulder shrug and “yeah I’ve been experimenting”. But you don’t have to because you don’t owe them an explanation.
