No bc I feel the same way when people joke about a man “bottoming” in a straight relationship. Like girl unless he’s getting the strap they’re just changing positions

The same culture colonization that happens with queer subculture being misused by straight people also happens with Black culture and non-Black people. We must gate keep to protect what’s ours if not, our culture will be incorporated into “Gen Z slang”. It’s only a matter of time before your Mom says she’s dl trade for Dad

What abt gay men tho? Is that a prince or no?

The term is usually sapphic (some would say lesbian) exclusive tbh so yeah i think the equivalent would be pillow prince for gay men?

i am not the oracle of delphi for gay people bro 😭 if your trans man partner identifies a lesbian maybe just depends on the person

Why would a trans man identity as a lesbian?? That doesn’t make any sense. Men don’t identify as being lesbians

I don’t, I’m just asking out of pure curiosity. I’m bisexual and so is my girlfriend.

Because they want to, im not a trans man lesbian so im not going to speak for them but they do frequently id as lesbians.

not frequently but there’s a good minority of them that do. I don’t really get it myself. but it’s just not a big enough deal for me to care, especially considering the current political situation for all trans people right now I don’t think it’s productive to police how other people identify. To give some perspective on it.

look up someone explaining it and/or testimonies from actual trans guy lesbians. it’s a nuanced topic about a small group of people identifying a certain way, which frankly shouldn’t matter to anyone else, but if it does then just look it up

I read historically it was open for both genders, but then sapphics started gate keeping it. is it really that big of a deal for people of other genders to use it ? I’m male but it makes me feel happy to use that term. I like the gender fuckery it implies alongside my preference in bed djdndn

Yeah i just meant frequently in like a “its not a super rare identity” but its also not super common if that makes sense. I agree on not policing how they identify, which is why im always defending them lol.

It doesn’t really matter but historically, it has been used more frequently and while some gay men may use it, it is generally more used in sapphic spaces. I don’t think its fair to say “sapphics started gate keeping it” because thats just not the case. You can’t say black people are gatekeeping aave when theyre just protecting something culturally significant to them. Yes theres been outliers who have identified as pillow princesses outside of sapphic spaces but its generally a term for sapphic

And i understand your point about gender fuckery and mostly my hard restriction with the label (as someone with a masters in history specifically US lesbian history in the south) is that it should be used exclusively by queer folk and should be gatekept from straight people as a hard line if that makes sense.

I think that’s what some of them mean but I’ve seen a lot of straight women joking about a man “bottoming” when they’re clearly referring to a girl just riding him in cowgirl. I think most of them conflate being a sub with being a bottom tbh

Back in my day, DL meant you were either at the DMV or hush-hush gay. Now it means that a teenager is sneaking out of their parents house. I’m a fan of linguistic evolution but this is just straight appropriation. Same as with “unc”
