I am still a bit confused on people who use masculine pronouns or identify as male who also identify as lesbians. From my understanding that is a term meant for women, so it still confuses me a bit. Could someone explain it to me a bit more?

It’s a gender-funky thing, they identify as men for the most part but still resonate with wlw dating dynamics or lesbian culture as a whole. At the end of the day this community uses our labels for self expression, not categorization, so anyone calling for hard and fast rules isn’t quite in tune with the movement.

for some trans and gnc people the line between gender identity and sexuality is very think or even non existent. take butches for example. butch is part of the lesbian sexuality but also a gender identity for some. for some butches and trans guys the lesbian identity and community is how they discovered they aren’t cis. therefore being lesbian is inherently tied to their gender to them and are interwoven. this is kind of a surface level approach to it but a good place to start.

I’m genuinely just a bit confused on the whole concept, and I’ve tried researching it but I still can’t really grasp it. I realized I was falling right into the same pipeline as most bigots where just cuz they don’t understand something they’re against it, so I am trying to actively better myself

I’m an nonbinary lesbian who loves being called things like handsome and I use all pronouns. I lived my entire life as a woman so it’s crazy to me when someone says since you will occasionally use he/him pronouns you can’t be a lesbian. For me it’s I still have a strong attachment to the women part of my nonbinary identity. Most gender nonconforming and trans men lesbians that I have talked to are people who were out as lesbians for at least a decade and still have connection to lesbianism

also for many lesbian butches and trans guys identifying as a man or using he/him pronouns doesn’t exactly mean they identify as a man in the same way cis men or other trans men do.

I will also have people argue that I’m bisexual since I’m nonbinary and that’s not really the case either because I don’t find myself attracted to men
