Has anyone on here tried bleaching short hair at home? Or should I not risk it and splurge on having a professional do it? (Yes I’m profiling this community but I’m a gay man going through a quarter life crisis)

if you hair is short then if you mess up too badly it won’t hurt that much to shave it and restart. go for it!

My hair was pretty short here and this was 20vol developer for 40 mins I think? The more you bleach the less time it takes (I think) last time it took only ten minutes.

Go to sally beauty and get scalp safe bleach and 15/20 vol developer. Do the ratio and steps as they say on the bleach packet till the hair is blonde

I’d also get a moisturising mask for after

I don’t want to damage my scalp/cause hair loss though

I think you’ll be okay! Scalp safe bleach and low volume developer will help! Hair loss only happens if you leave bleach on too long. Lower volume developer is better because it processes slower, allowing you to track it better, while high volume (30-40) will process MUCH faster and in the blink of an eye could be damaging. By not itching your head or washing your hair a night or two before you bleach, it will help your scalp be more oily, and protect your scalp a little more

Also you only want to shampoo after bleaching if ur doing color after bc conditioner will create a barrier on the follicle that the dye won’t be able to penetrate
