Yes labels are optional and yes they’re also flexible no this doesn’t mean they’re useless and no this doesn’t mean that everyone who uses a label is flexible with it. i think a lot of gays forget that labels also serve the purpose of finding community. they aren’t just bullshit that puts people in boxes and if you feel like you’re being shoved into a box then maybe that label isn’t for you.
